Sheffield Removals Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Sheffield Removals in respect of our financial year and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a serious crime and violation of fundamental human rights, and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our relationships.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Sheffield Removals operates a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, human trafficking, servitude and any other abuse or exploitation of individuals. This commitment applies to our own activities, our employees, agency workers, contractors and our entire supply chain.
We expect everyone who works with or for Sheffield Removals to uphold the same high standards. Any breach of this policy by an employee will be treated as a serious disciplinary matter, which may result in dismissal. Any supplier or contractor found to be involved in modern slavery will face immediate review of our relationship, which may lead to termination of contracts and the reporting of concerns to the relevant authorities.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Sheffield Removals provides domestic and commercial removals, storage and related services. Our supply chain includes providers of vehicles, fuel, packaging materials, storage facilities, equipment, temporary labour, maintenance services and professional services. We recognise that certain sectors and regions can carry higher risks of modern slavery, and we seek to identify and address these risks proactively.
Supplier Standards and Audits
We expect all suppliers and contractors to share our commitment to preventing modern slavery. As part of our supplier due diligence, we require assurances that they comply with applicable labour, employment and human rights laws, and that they are taking reasonable steps to identify and address the risk of modern slavery in their own operations and supply chains.
Sheffield Removals is strengthening its approach to supplier audits. We reserve the right to conduct audits or request evidence that suppliers have appropriate policies, training and controls in place to prevent modern slavery. This may include reviewing policies on recruitment, use of agency labour, working hours, pay practices and worker grievance procedures.
Where we identify potential risks or areas for improvement, we will work collaboratively with suppliers to encourage remedial action. If a supplier is unwilling or unable to demonstrate adequate progress, we will consider ending the relationship in line with our zero-tolerance stance.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
Sheffield Removals encourages all employees, workers, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to raise any concerns they may have about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business. Concerns can be raised with a line manager or senior manager, or through any internal reporting route communicated to staff.
Reports will be taken seriously, treated sensitively and investigated promptly where appropriate. We do not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith, even if it is not substantiated following investigation. Where necessary, and where we consider there to be an immediate risk to individuals, we may refer matters to law enforcement or other competent authorities.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery among our employees and managers. Relevant staff will receive information and guidance to help them recognise the signs of modern slavery and understand how to respond to concerns. We aim to embed respect for human rights within our day-to-day operations and decision-making processes.
Monitoring, Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery commitments rests with the senior management team of Sheffield Removals. They are responsible for reviewing the effectiveness of the measures we have in place and identifying areas for improvement.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least annually and updated as necessary to reflect changes in our business, our supply chains, legal requirements and best practice. As part of this review, we will consider feedback from staff and stakeholders, the results of any supplier audits and any incidents or concerns raised during the year.
By continuously improving our policies, procedures and training, Sheffield Removals aims to play its part in eliminating modern slavery and protecting the dignity and rights of all people who contribute to our success.
